AN ORCHESTRA TOUR ON THE ODER

“An Orchestra Tour on the Oder” is a continuation and extension of the innovative “Opole Wind Instrument Express” initiative, the first and only one of its kind in Poland, invented and implemented by Przemysław Ślusarczyk, an Opole-based composer, conductor, and cultural animator. The first edition took place in 2012. The concert group el12 Opole Politechnic Band, composed of musicians from the Opole University of Technology Orchestra, the ZSE Brass Band in Opole and the Grudzice Brass Band, under the direction of the event originator, performs during musical cruises on the Opolanin Ship (in Opole) or the Silesia Ship (in Kędzierzyn-Koźle or the Gliwice Canal) accompanied by the audience.

The event has the following objectives:

promotion of the Opolskie Voivodship,

promotion of culture and alternative cultural activities,

promotion of inland navigation and water tourist routes,

promotion of water transport,

revitalization of railways and railway routes in the province,

promotion of regional tourism,

revitalization of inland navigation in the province,

activation of local community.

That is why AN ORCHESTRA TOUR ON THE ODER – because we want to restore the former status of the Oder River!

In 2013, the Opole University of Technology won an honourable mention in the Competition for the Best Tourist Product OROT Certificate for: “Time for the orchestra – the Opole Wind Instrument Express”, “An Orchestra Tour on the Oder”, “An Orchestra Tour of Castles and Palaces”, for “Consistent and effective promotion of the university and the region through cultural events”.
