NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF POLISH SONG IN OPOLE
Opole's flagship event, one of the oldest European festivals and the most famous pop music event in Poland, enjoys enormous prestige.
Held since 1963 in the Opole amphitheatre, the event was cancelled only once – in 1982, due to the introduction of martial law in Poland. In 2010, due to the modernisation of the Millennium Amphitheatre, the event was held at the Opole University of Technology. Every year, the festival welcomes the biggest stars of Polish music to its stage. Its format has changed several times, and today it consists of four days filled with music by soloists and ensembles, a review of the achievements of the past season, premiere and debut concerts, and a review of sketch comedy groups, Kabareton. The festival is commemorated at the Polish Song Museum in Opole.
In 2013, the festival won the top prize for the Best Tourist Product of the Opolskie Voivodeship – OROT Certificate 2013 in the tourist event category.
