THE LAND OF TURAWSKIE LAKE

The Land of Turawskie Lake District encompasses four reservoirs. The largest, Large Turawskie Lake, was created in the interwar period as a storage reservoir. Two smaller lakes, called Medium Lake and Small Lake, are nestled among the forests surrounding the main reservoir. The Small Lake lies approximately 300 meters from the Medium Lake. Currently, its swimming area is somewhat overgrown, but the reservoir is still very clean and, thanks to its

picturesque setting, attracts walkers, couples in love and photography enthusiasts. The fourth lake – most often called the Silver Lake, but also called the Green Lake or the Emerald Lake due to its turquoise color – is located near Osowiec.

Sandy beaches nestled among pine forests, picturesque meanders and a vast expanse of water create ideal conditions for recreation and water sports. The Turawskie Lakes boast well-developed infrastructure (recreation complexes, cottages, camping sites, campsites, catering facilities, playgrounds, sports fields and public toilets accessible to the disabled). The lakes are also popular with anglers – these waters are renowned for their excellent pike-perch fishing – and with ornithologists – as they are a Natura 2000 Special Protection Area. In addition, the Turawskie Lakes Region offers rope parks, playgrounds and interesting monuments: the palace in Turawa, the Baroque church in Kotor Wielki and the wooden churches in Bierdzany and Zakrzów Turawski.

In 2023, one of the largest investments in the region - a 14 km pedestrian and bicycle path connecting Opole with the Turawa lakes - was completed.

In 2023, the Turawa Commune received the Certificate for the Turawa Lake District awarded in the competition for the Best Tourist Product of the Opolkie Voivodship 2023.
