BOLKO ISLAND IN OPOLE

In the southern part of Opole lies the incredibly attractive Bolko Island, often referred to as the green lungs of Opole. The island is surrounded by the Oder River to the north and east, the Relief Canal to the west, and a section of the Vistula Canal to the northwest. This charming park complex is a natural enclave in the city center, featuring numerous hiking and cycling paths, fitness trails, a café, a bay housing the Kayak Club, ponds and canals immersed in lush vegetation. Among the mature trees, including oaks, maples and willows, you can spot numerous bird species, such as honey buzzards and owls. There are also numerous wildlife species, such as squirrels, roe deer and young red deer.
