KONRAD MIENTUS REGIONAL SILESIAN CHAMBER IN DANIEC
The Konrad Mientus Regional Silesian Chamber is located in the building of the village club in Daniec, at ul. Dabrowicka 4, where it occupies part of the attic.
The chamber was founded in 1978 by local history enthusiast Konrad Mientus. It consists of over 600 memorabilia from our ancestors: various types of agricultural tools, household equipment such as a butter churn or a grain scoop, cow and horse collars, old firefighting equipment, firefighter helmets and uniforms, grandmothers' clothes, musical instruments of the Fila Family Band from Daniec, old porcelain, clocks and religious exhibits, a collection of books on Silesia, the chronicle of Daniec, a monograph on the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Daniec and the history of the Fila Family Band. The Chamber is full of exotic items – souvenirs from the mission in Peru, donated by Father Ginter Rychlikowski from Daniec, as well as souvenirs from the Holy Land provided by Brother Norbert Kleiner from Antoniów. There is a separate corner dedicated to the art of casting: it features gravestone fences and epitaphs of 19th-century steelworkers from Ozimki.
The Konrad Mientus Regional Silesian Chamber is one of the attractions of the Chrząstowice municipality. To date (as recorded in the guest books), it has been visited by over 30,000 guests from Poland and abroad. Konrad Mientus called the place his "sanctuary". The founder of the Chamber passed away on 7 March 2012. After his death, the place was looked after by the staff of the Municipal Public Library in Chrząstowice.
Since 2019, the building of the village club in Daniec, where the Chamber is located, has been undergoing gradual renovations, thanks to which the attic has gained a new look. A new exhibition is currently being prepared. The Chamber also plans to hold workshops and classes related to the traditions of the region.
