ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH IN KRAPKOWICE
The first written mention of St. Nicholas Church in Krapkowice dates back to 1330. It was likely built on the site of an earlier wooden church; however, this is only a hypothesis that originates from the oral legends of local residents. Still, it is undoubtedly one of the oldest buildings in Krapkowice. The current architectural structure was built in the late 14th century. The church has been rebuilt several times over the years, although it still retains Gothic elements, including ribbed vaults in the chancel and some sculptural details on the facade. In 1722, the city was consumed by a great fire, which did not spare the church either. Thanks to the efforts of the parish priest at the time, the architectural character of the church was restored, and the reconstruction was funded by the owner of Krapkowice, Knight Hans von Redern. A tower with a distinctive helm adjoins the temple to the north. The interior of the church is decorated with many historic elements, including a 16th century stone baptismal font, a pulpit in the classicising Baroque style, and numerous epitaphs. The church's furnishings also include an antique, richly decorated monstrance from 1744. Also worth noting are the stained-glass windows adorning the temple's interior. Notable sights near the church include the Krapkowice Castle.
