CENTRE FOR WEAVING TRADITIONS IN PRUDNIK

Opened in 2009, the Centre for Weaving Traditions is a branch of the Prudnik Region Museum, established to save and promote Prudnik's weaving traditions. Since the 19th century, the city has been famous for one of the largest textile factories in Europe and the Fränkl and the Pinkus families associated with it. The post-war "Frotex" Cotton Industry Plant was unfortunately closed in 2011, but nevertheless the textile industry has left a significant mark on the history and culture of the town. The activities of the Centre for Weaving Traditions focus on organising workshops, meetings and exhibitions on textile traditions, often undertaking cross-border efforts to cultivate a common Polish-Czech heritage.
