ROYAL IRONWORKS IN ZAGWIŹDZIE

This is the oldest surviving building of the Kluczbork Ironworks (Kreuzburger Hütte) complex. It was built in 1802 and was part of a complex of buildings belonging to an ironworks established in the mid-18th century by decision of the Prussian King Frederick II Hohenzollern as one of the important centres of the metallurgical industry in the Kingdom of Prussia at that time. The complex of the former royal ironworks now serves as a museum, showcasing 19th-century industrial heritage. It consists of brick buildings, including a warehouse, a foundry and a hammer mill, connected by two channels. The latter houses the Regional Museum Hall, which presents the products of the Kluczbork Ironworks, local industrial traditions and old items of daily use. Inside, a water-powered machine for processing cast iron products called a shear and a cast iron mould for profiling have been preserved. The facility has won numerous regional and national awards.

Organised groups can visit the Regional Museum Hall and the former hammer mill by phone arrangement with the head of the municipality of Murów, phone: 77 427 02 90.
