ZAGWIŹDZIE

The beginnings of settlement in the Zagwiździe area date back to the 13th century. It was in Zagwiździe, that is in the Friedrichsthal village in the Murów municipality, that the King of Prussia Frederick II Hohenzollern himself gave orders in the years 1753-1755 to establish here an ironworks, called, also on his orders, the Kluczbork Ironworks. Its buildings have survived to this day. They now serve as a museum, showcasing 19th-century industrial heritage. In addition to the historic ironworks, in Zagwiździe it is also worth seeing the historic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with its sumptuous interior. Right next to it, there is a picturesque pond with benches on the bank, where you can spend a long time enjoying the sun and the tranquility of this quiet village. Furthermore, the parish botanical garden famous for its rhododendrons is worthy of note in Zagwiździe. It is also worth playing the "Discover the Monuments of Zagwiździe" outdoor game, and for sport and recreation - canoeing on the Budkowiczanka River.
