GŁUBCZYCE
Głubczyce is a county town located right on the border with the Czech Republic, on the ancient trade route Opole - Ołomuniec - Brno at the gateway to Moravia, on
the Psina River, a left tributary of the Oder.
The town, which has had municipal rights since 1275, has a rich history and numerous monuments from various eras (including a reconstructed Renaissance town hall, a Gothic church and a late Baroque Franciscan monastery). In the 13th
century, it was surrounded by city walls, reinforced by 19 towers and three gate towers, as well as a moat. Only fragments of the former city fortifications have survived to this day. The three preserved towers were built in the shape of arches. In the southern part of the town there is a municipal park. The park and the surroundings of Głubczyce are an ideal place for lovers of beautiful landscapes. Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy a trip around the Polish-Czech borderland of Silesia, centered around the border river Opawica.
