OLESNO
Founded at the beginning of the XIII century, the town is famous above all for the Olesno rose carved in wood – the wooden church dedicated to St. Anne, regarded as a pearl of wooden architecture due to its distinctive shape. In 2012, the product submitted by the Oleśno Minicipal Office under the name "Oleśno rose enchanted into wood from Seven Sources watered" won the Competition for the Best Tourist Product - OROT Certificate 2012.
However, the Olesno sanctuary is not the only monument worth visiting in Olesno. Other notable sights include the church dedicated to St. Michael, where more than 50 representations of angels can be seen, the 19th-century Neoclassical town hall, and the Olesno Regional Museum, housed in a historic 18th-century Baroque townhouse. A short distance from the town centre is the indoor swimming pool complex “Oleska Laguna”, one of the largest and most modern sports and leisure facilities in the Opole region, offering numerous attractions for water lovers. Olesno also offers a number of unusual places with outstanding natural, tourist and cultural value. One such place is certainly the forest sanctuary known as “Seven Springs”, shrouded in legends. The easiest way to reach it is by following the Way of the Cross - the Olesno Calvary - starting from the wooden Church of St. Anne, with its stations stretching over a distance of about one and a half kilometres.
Another must-see walking area is the famous Olesno Promenade, which won the Grand Prize of the Marshal of the Opole Voivodeship in the Best Public Space of the Opole Voivodeship 2021 competition.
The town is developing remarkably well and is a unique place on the map of tourist attractions of the Opole Voivodeship.
