KRAPKOWICE

Krapkowice is a town with medieval origins. For centuries, it consisted of two separate settlements of distinctly different character: the important urban and trading centre of Krapkowice on the left bank of the Oder River, and the old fishing settlement of Otmęt on the right bank. Till today, the historic 14th-century town walls conceal many attractions. The largest and oldest of them is the Upper Gate Tower - the so-called Krapkowice Bastion, from which the Krapkowice bugle call is played every day at noon. There is also a viewing terrace here. It is also worth seeing the Krapkowice Castle, even though not much of the former appearance of this powerful Late Renaissance structure has survived to the present day. The town also features a Yaht Harbor with a water sports equipment rental and a camping site.

Tourists are guided around the main attractions of Krapkowice by the “Footwear Trail.” This is an absolutely unique idea of marking attractions with shoes with QR codes Why shoes? This refers to the Silesian Leather Industry Works “Otmęt”, which for several decades was a major powerhouse in the footwear industry. The Otmęt shoe was synonymous with high-quality craftsmanship and an excellent reputation among customers, and today it guides visitors to the most interesting places in Krapkowice and the surrounding area.
