DĄBROWA CASTLE

Famous for its distinctive spiralling chimneys, a feature unique in Europe, Dąbrowa Castle was established as a Renaissance residence for the von Mettich-

Tschetschau clan in the early 17th century. It owes its current Neo-Renaissance style to one of Europe’s wealthiest families, the Hochbergs, who purchased the estate in the late 19th century. Destroyed by the Red Army, the castle is currently the property of the University of Opole, which plans to adapt it into a business centre.

The structure is surrounded by a vast historic park. While the interior is open to visitors only occasionally, the impressive exterior can be admired year-round.
