THE MUNICIPAL WEIGHT HOUSE IN NYSA

This Renaissance tenement house was built at the beginning of the 17th century. It was the seat of the administrative board of the Duchy of Nysa and the chamber of weights and measures. Under the arcades, there was a public weighing scale and a cubit standard. Destroyed during the Napoleonic Wars and by the Red Army in 1945. A cannonball is embedded in the façade to commemorate the events of 1807. In 1966, on the Millennium of the Polish State, a plaque commemorating the execution of Prince Nicholas II was placed there. Today, it is the seat of the City and Municipal Public Library.
