PACZKOW RESERVOIR
The picturesquely situated Paczków Reservoir is a retention reservoir created in 2002 by flooding numerous small ponds, water bodies and meanders on the Nysa Kłodzka River. The artificial lake in Paczków consists of two smaller reservoirs, Kozielno and Topola. At the outlet of each reservoir is a small hydroelectric power plant, with a dam and hydraulic structures. The reservoir tempts lovers of long walks and scenic bicycle trips along the its shores. Particularly noteworthy is the so-called "Bird Island," inhabited seasonally by rare species of waterfowl, including grey herons, black-headed gulls, little bitterns, swans, grebes, ducks, terns and shovelers. Paczków Reservoir is also a popular source of various fish species among fishing enthusiasts, especially record-sized carp. It is increasingly attracting carp fishing enthusiasts to this part of the Opole region, including: participants of the Lower Silesian Carp Cup.
