PRÓSZKÓW CASTLE

Prószków Castle is a valuable heritage site and a testament to the splendour of bygone eras. This Renaissance ancestral seat of the Prószkowski family was built in 1563 with the contribution of Italian architects. The castle underwent a Baroque reconstruction between 1677 and 1683.

It is a four-winged building featuring a rectangular courtyard, corner bastions, and two towers on the front façade. To this day, the site preserves mementos of its original owners, the Prószkowski family, such as heraldic shields on the external façade dated 1563, stucco decorations with plafond ceilings in the Knight's Hall, and an 18th-century marble fountain basin in the courtyard. The site may be visited with the permission of the Opole District Governor, subject to prior appointment.
